Turkish Airlines flies Team EA to Latvia
Rwanda, Kenya and Uganda represented East Africa on this roadshow organized by Turkish Airlines. In such a roadshow where the audience knows nothing about our countries, our individual companies don’t matter.
You first have to convince the audience about your country, giving them compelling reasons why they should even consider your country as a destination. As for Kenya and Rwanda, you can tell that people have an idea about them because they have either been there or heard about them.
One representing Uganda has a bigger task of wowing the audiences for discussions to even begin. I even have to pray before I go on stage. Today, we have a whole day of engaging here in Latvia, whose capital city is Riga. I flew in last night; very tiring but nothing is easy in life – my 52 years on earth have taught me that.
In the last four days, we have had four flights, slept late, had uncertain weather but great presentations have happened. But results take time. Life isn’t like instant coffee. As a team, we support each other, we cheer each other up when it gets tough and learn from each other as well. It’s a very experienced team.
David (Rwanda) and I shared a twin bed room last night, a few times we have been selected by different organizations to represent our countries on panels, tv discussions, etc. None of us ever goes around asking anybody to invite us - he never does and I never do - we simply do what we know to do and God does the rest.
Monica is an amazing Kenyan lady with an incredible story and such a hard worker, very impressive. Thoughtful person too!
